Clinical Staff
Dr. J Gregory Rosenthal, MD
has been in practice in the Toledo area since 1989. He has served as Division Head of Ophthalmology at The University of Toledo Medical Center, The Toledo Hospital, and Toledo Children's Hospital. He has also served on leadership committees of Prevent Blindness Ohio, CareNet, and The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Jairus Foundation, a charitable organization focused upon giving people a second chance. Through Jairus, he has performed over 1000 major surgeries in the Dominican Republic.Dr. Rosenthal takes care of all retinal problems, regardless of nature, complexity, or the patient's ability to pay. He has special expertise in diabetic care, macular degeneration, complex retinal detachments, management of surgical complications and trauma, and retinal vascular disease.
Tammy Brinkman, COA-
has been the Supervising Director of the Retina Service for over 23 years. She serves as the Clinical and Office Manager for Alliance Retina. She is a Certified Ophthalmic Technician and has expertise in all related technologies. She coordinates all surgical services and educational activities. Tammy also coordinates clinical research activities. She has also assisted Dr. Rosenthal in surgery in the third world and with various charitable activities.
Kara Kessinger, COA, COPS
- is a Certified Ophthalmic Photographer and Opthalmic Technician. She has exerts in all areas of ophthalmic photography and computerized imaging systems. Kara has worked with Dr. Rosenthal for over 18 years, both as senior staff photographer and also as a scribe, surgery coordinator, and ophthalmic technician.
Stephanie Lopez, COA-
has over 14 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician and photographer. She also oversees our quality assurance programs. She and Kara work together as the most experienced ophthalmic imaging team in the region. Stephanie also performs several other vital functions for Alliance Retina and our patients.
Wendy Knapp, COA-
has worked in ophthalmology for many years and has expertise in a wide area of eye care. She is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistance and joined Alliance Retina 3 years ago. Wendy provides many services in the practice and along with Stephanie provides the first stage of care in our office.
